This particular blog post is being created using the native voice to text digital dictation software on my iPad iOS system.
There’s nothing fancy going on here. I am simply dictating a blog pos rough draft directly within my Ulysses software program and I will only manually edit it once.
There are two significant advantages to writing blog posts by digital dictation.
First, there is the advantage of speed. It’s simple and efficient for me to digitally dictate a rough draft provided I write in blurbs and keeps the sentence complexity to a minimum.
Second, the blog post is naturally conversational in tone— certainly a good thing for many of my posts.
Now, is dictating the best way to write a complex non-fiction book or a novel?
For me, I think that’s unlikely. However, a hybrid approach in which I blend digital dictation fluently with typed words is skill I’m working on to maximize my writing quantity and efficiency.
(Oh, and FYI this post took less than five minutes to create, edit and post.)
