I recently wrote about one of the challenges I have with my blog—a lack of focus (On Blogging: Diversity of Ideas vs. Focus). I promised myself that by the end of 2021 I would address this challenge.
As we start to get into the thick of November I have reconsidered how I approach my blogging.
For the rest of the year, I will continue to blog every day. The “365 consecutive days blogging” is such a close, juicy target it would break my heart to stop now.
But starting January 1, 2022, I will blog less frequently.
Instead of one blog post a day, I am considering posting one piece of original content every day on one of several different platforms:
My Blog
Medium
LinkedIn
Podcast
YouTube Channel
My daily creation of digital content will go on.
Unfortunately, this is a diversity of distribution and content type, not subject focus.
(Although my blog will still go on, and although my website will still be the cornerstone of my digital platform, I have known for some time that audio and video content have much further reach, and I will do my best to start crossing over to these mediums.)
One question remains:
Next year, can I narrow down all of my content to just several related subjects?
