Reread this book and spend some time on considering the why behind Aristophanes’ brutal caricature of Socrates. You will be reminded that the purpose of comedy isn’t just to make people laugh; that’s just a tool of comedy. Rather, the purpose of comedy is to act as a check against the elite, the powerful, and the privileged.
