De gustibus non est disputandum: “About tastes, it should not be disputed/discussed.”

People may or may not like my photo above.

I happen to like it. I love its softness and the dew on the drops, the texture of the blueberries, and overall I think it is a pretty good photo.

However, it can be criticized on technical grounds. Specifically, on the left side, there is part of a leaf sticking out; something which I should have—and may still—crop out.

And that’s the point. For me, whether it’s in my photography or—more importantly—my writing, I think it’s important to be self-critical when it comes to my technical craft. Also, it’s important to carefully evaluate external criticism about technical aspects of my craft. Heck, this is how I will learn and grows as a creative.

However, when it comes to subjective opinions, it’s equally important to not let them worry me too much. After all, my cup of tea is not your cup of tea, and it’s a waste of time and energy to argue over matters of taste.
