I love using simple technology to capture ideas, and sticky notes are one of my favorite.
For example, over the last few hours, I have jotted down:
- Steve McConnell: buy a book on software
- MIT Innovation: Blog post about my definition of innovation vs. MITs
- Check Blog Vault once a week (My site backup)
- Blog on Mickey Mouse/Frozen/Grogu
- Blog on inexpensive noise-canceling headphones
- Blog about journaling and using sticky notes as I journal (which I am writing about now!)
- Leavening: Blog idea
- Bread, Flour, Water, Yeast: A blog idea about creativity vs intelligence vs discipline—which one is the yeast?
Each of these will be processed for a few seconds/minutes today; some will be put in a task list on my go-to organization software, OmniFocus, others will be put in the trash.
Key points:
- It’s a two step process. Capturing the idea—then process the idea.
- For sticky notes, I go for volume, not quality.
