Health isn’t precious, at least in the sense that a string of pearls is precious—a piece of jewelry which my wife might wear to the symphony once or twice a year.

Rather health is much more like a can opener, something which is essential daily, or at least every day you need to open a can.

Sure, there are workarounds to opening a can if you don’t have a can opener—such as a strong, steel-bladed hunting knife which you can use to puncture the can lid multiple times.

But let’s face it, nothing replaces a can opener when you have lost it, and nothing replaces health when it’s gone.
