Fours weeks and one day out, I am finally hiking again!

Sure, I only went 40 minutes, but for me it was every bit as eventful as a Mount Rainier climb.

Now, I am using hiking poles. These have the benefit of giving added stability, a full body work out, and muscular symmetry— the latter has been particularly problematic over the two years of cane use. Overall, it feels very good physical.

But even more importantly is the psychological benefit this little hike has given me: For the first time in a long time, I feel healthy, vigorous, and strong.

And that’s a big deal.
