After approximately a year off from blogging—a year spent reading and taking courses on subjects as diverse as python programming and ethics—I have decided to resume blogging.
Over the next year, I hope to write mostly about the confluence of three subject areas: health, artificial intelligence, and healthcare.
Why these three subjects? Well, like it or not, we are in the midst of a data revolution, and as any student of history knows, not all revolutions have a happy ending and sadly, my belief is that right now, whether aware of it or not, we are well on the way to choosing an unhappy ending.
So, the rules of my game for the next 12 months?
- Most posts will discuss the interaction between two of these subject areas.
- Most posts will reference either published information in journals or well-written articles which refer to published information in journals.
- I will do my best to state my opinion as an opinion, rather than as fact.
- I am writing to principally clarify concepts for myself, and as such, I expect to occasionally contradict myself.
- I will intentionally avoid social commentary outside of my specific areas of interest.
- I will occasionally write directly on digital spaces such as Medium and LinkedIn.
- I will periodically share and comment on other people’s writings on these three topics, especially those many who have deeper, more refined insights than mine.
- I will try to approach these topics through a philosophical lens, rather than an economic or social lens.
- Finally, I reserve the right to modify these rules.
I have disabled comments on my blog, but I don’t mind some feedback via Twitter, or occasional interaction on LinkedIn. Although this is partly for practical time constraints, it’s mostly because this blog, for now, is designed to be a conversation with myself, rather than a place to convince others.
Off we go!
