I’ve just finished reading a book called “The Blue Zones”, by Dan Buettner.
It summarizes the similarities and differences between the lifestyles of centenarians who live in communities with a high prevalence of people who not only live much longer than most, but also live healthier than most, often active into their 90s.
Although this book offers a lot of practical advice for physicians to relay to their patients, it’s real value is as a counterbalance to our technology-driven healthcare system.
It’s a good reminder that great health (as opposed to great healthcare) is driven more by long term lifestyle habits than the next wearable device or the next digital platform.
