The Sirens bewitch everybody who approaches them. There is no homecoming for the man who draws near them unawares…For with their high clear song the Sirens bewitch him, as they sit there in a meadow piled high with the mouldering skeletons of men, whose withered skin still hangs upon their bones.

Circe—The Odyssey by Homer

One of the mortal dangers of an ikigai pivot is the siren call of your prior career—especially if that career was your ikigai.

The call will feel comfortable. It will reach out to your strengths, and give you a sense of security.

But this is all a myth.

What this siren call will do is cause you to stagnate and to hesitate. Once you decide to pivot your ikigai, then move purposefully in another direction; go all in.

Your career and your soul are counting on you.
