Certainly these were successful pivots. And certainly within high-tech there are many more undocumented pivot failures than there are pivot successes like these companies. After all, it’s usually only the pivoting victors who are writing about their journey.
But I do think there is one point we can take away from these high-tech pivot success stories and apply to an individual who is considering a pivot:
It means you have the self-awareness that something isn’t working in your life and that you need to make a change. This is a very powerful position to be in.
Look, I’m wary of any startup which claims they are excited about pivoting; but people are not startups, and pivoting can be both necessary and exciting. Proceed with caution, but proceed.
