As I write this post, I am post-op day 8 from my hip surgery, and I finally have the mental energy and sharpness to tackle some serious reading—Wittgenstein’s Philosophical Investigations, by Marie McGinn. This is in preparation to a one-day course at Oxford (via Zoom) about his approach to games.
Wittgenstein’s work is one of my bigger philosophical knowledge gaps I’m trying to fill. I am particularly interested in his thoughts around ethics, and how these most human of questions may not be amenable to any philosophical analysis due to the nature of language.
The course is April 16th, so I have two weeks for some deep reading. That’s pure joy!
