In the book The Haiku Handbook, I ran across an interesting quote:

We must read Ippekirō’s poems for the brilliance of his images, the humanity of his observations, and the depth of his feelings for the objects and events he records, as we read—or should read—all haiku.

As my blog readers may know, I am exploring the relationship between poetry and black and white photography. With just a little reworking, I think this quote rings equally true for photography :

We must see the photographer for the brilliance of their images, the humanity of their observations, and the depth of their feelings for the objects and events they record, as we see—or should see—all photography.
