I bought the leather bookmark (shown in the photo above) while I was in London over two decades ago. It’s one of my favorite bookmarks.
I can’t really explain why. It’s not very functional as a bookmark. It tends to stick on the page when I move it. It’s also not particularly attractive to look at; its gold print is already wearing away.
Perhaps it’s because it reminds me of banging around London by myself one day, wandering around Covent Garden, and going to the gift shop at the Royal Opera House on a sunny afternoon?
Who knows? Some times your favorite things simply don’t make sense.
