When I talk to physicians about Twitter, they often tell me they think it’s a waste of time
Perhaps they are right.
But then I will pull up Bill Gates’ Twitter account, started in 2010 (see his first tweet below), and ask them why— if indeed it is such a waster of time—Bill Gates is on Twitter, and why he tweets 0.887 tweets/day (3241 tweets/ 3652 days)?
Here they will often fumble around a bit but usually will hypothesize that he is on Twitter because he is a billionaire with lots of free time.
Well, you just have to watch his recent Netflix documentary, Inside Bill’s Brain: Decoding Bill Gates, to see this isn’t true; In fact, he is on a mission, and it’s evident in his everyday life he recognizes his greatest asset is his time.
Bottom line: Bill Gates isn’t on Twitter because he is a billionaire with free time.
Bill Gates is a billionaire because he uses tools such as Twitter,—a tool that helps him achieve his mission, and a tool which leverages his most valuable commodity: his time.
