mob: A disorderly or riotous crowd, a rabble.
—Oxford English Dictionary
When you use Twitter, you are part of a digital mob.
For the moment you may be in a friendly part of your Twitter mob, surrounded by your digital friends, moving with them, and supporting each other.
But mobs have a random element to them, a morality all of their own, and it doesn’t take much for them to turn violent—against others or oneself.
Mobs are powerful and dangerous, especially in the short term. And in the long term? Well, they can change the world, but often in unexpected ways, and not necessarily for the better.
Be careful.
