Am I a writer? Yes. I have blogged every day for nearly two years just on my blog, and on other healthcare domains, I have written over 500 blog posts.
But am I an author?
The answer to this question is less clear, but I am asking it for two reasons. First, how should I introduce myself: physician-writer or physician-author? And second—and more importantly—which feels right to me?
Well, when in doubt, I go to the Oxford English Dictionary. Here is the relevant definition:
Author: I. A writer, and senses relating to literature. 1.a. The writer of a book or other work; a person whose occupation is writing books.
O.E.D.
For me, the words which pop out are book and occupation.
I certainly meet these criteria.
I am an author.
