• Knowing how to eat well is one thing; eating well is another.
  • Knowing to save for a rainy day in one thing; saving for a rainy day is another.
  • Knowing to exercise every day is one thing; getting up at six a.m. to go for a walk is another.

Knowing I have to do something is different than me actually doing something.

Right now, I know the final key to my writing success is to focus on one—and only one—project. Yet I still find it challenging to do this.

My curiosity, usually one of my greatest strengths, is actually now one of my greatest weaknesses—the engine of my distraction. And I had better either reign it in, or somehow use it to bolster my one critical writing project, or my work will never get done.

Success isn’t just in the knowing; it’s in the doing.
