A challenge I’m having right now is focusing and completing one of my nonfiction writing projects.
I have several at various stages of completion: some at the conceptual stage, some at the outline stage, and two with several thousand words already written. Yet I’m still having problems completing any one of them.
I need to make a decision on which writing project to fully commit to completing, and then proceed to just getting it done.
So, what’s the next step? I need to select the book based on an infinite mindset, rather than a finite mindset. By this, I mean I need to chose the book project which covers a topic that I can speak about indefinitely and which has evergreen content designed to help a community—albeit a very small one—grow. These two filters will dramatically narrow my list.
A third filter: I also have several podcast topics in mind that I am burning to speak about, and I think selecting and completing my first nonfiction book about one of these topics will be the best way to go.
And as a final filter, I have LinkedIn selected as one of my key community distribution networks for a writing project. (LinkedIn is undiscovered country for me; it has so much potential for physician-creatives.) Which one of my writing projects is most “LinkedIn-friendly.“
Wish me luck.
