I love the morning quiet, the time just before sunrise, usually between 4:30 am and 5:30 am.
At home at this time it’s just me and my cat. I have my coffee and writing material, and he has his treat and bowl of wet food. Its simply lovely.
Outside of the home this early can be equally pleasant. Less people are about—and those that are are all business. There’s also less traffic, and getting from point A to point B pre-rush hour is trivial. Heck, I even wonder if early morning people are just nicer? Perhaps these early morning hours are a filter for people who seek the quiet and understand its value.
Now, of course, I am a natural earning morning person (which I will define as someone who pops out of bed at 4:30 am sans alarm). But I recognize and respect the night owls among us, who find their own type of quiet at 1:00 am (which will occasionally extend into my quiet time at those increasingly hard to find all night cafes, our paths crossing—me at the beginning of my day, they at the end of theirs). And guess what? We both have one thing in common. We recognize our natural rhythms, intentionally embrace them, and find our own moment of morning quiet.
Good luck at finding yours.
