The San Francisco Writers Conference starts on Thursday, July 21st, and my plan on getting there is to take an early morning flight on July 19th from Seattle. It’s been over two long years since I’ve been to San Francisco (in fact, I was last there right before Covid hit), so I love the idea of getting into San Francisco to walk around for a couple of days and reconnecting with the city.

But the best-laid plans sometimes fail, so I do have a backup plan for getting there: a 12-hour drive!

Now, granted this isn’t optimal, especially since I would probably do this over two days going towards San Francisco (I’m not driving-familiar with the city at night, so I would like to arrive there in the daytime). But it would be a nice drive, one I have always wanted to make, and I do have quite a few audiobooks and podcasts to catch up on. Heck, it might even be an adventure!

So, do what you will Alaska Airlines because my backup plan is just fine.
