Why do I, as a writer, spend time on Flickr?

There are a few reasons:

  1. I love creating black and white photographs, and Flickr is a means of sharing these photographs. Engraving the habit of publishing and sharing my creative projects is a great habit for any creative, including writers.
  2. There’s a substantial amount of writing with Flickr— especially within comments and descriptions. Writers write.
  3. I’ve made inroads on one writing project thanks to Flickr—a book of haiku I wrote using fifty of my black and white photos.
  4. Flickr has some excellent group and organizational tools; although I haven’t done this yet, I think it can be a good source of secondary digital marketing for my regionally-based novel.
  5. It’s fun.
  6. It’s not Facebook!

Writers create. Flickr is one of the best creative social media platforms out there. Linking the two makes sense.
